Senior Data Engineer

SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

£100,000
LONDON

This is a unique opportunity to join a prestigious investment management business at the start of a major technology transformation. You'll play a key role in building a brand-new cloud data platform from the ground up, working closely with investment professionals and taking ownership of critical data initiatives across the business.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a highly respected investment management firm with a long-standing heritage and a global, multi-asset investment strategy. Operating more like a sophisticated investment office than a traditional bank, they manage significant assets across public and private markets while maintaining a lean, collaborative culture.

This is a growth hire as part of a wider modernisation programme, offering the chance to help shape the future data landscape of the business and influence technology decisions from day one.

THE ROLE

  • Build and develop a new cloud-based data platform, helping to establish the foundations of the firm's future data architecture
  • Migrate, redesign and modernise existing ETL pipelines, reporting processes and data workflows from legacy systems
  • Work closely with investment, private equity, risk and performance teams to translate business requirements into scalable solutions
  • Contribute across the full data lifecycle, including engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, reporting and platform optimisation
  • Play a highly visible role in a small technology team where your work will have direct business impact

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Strong experience in Data Engineering, ideally with exposure across infrastructure, pipelines, reporting and cloud technologies
  • Financial Services experience is highly desirable, particularly within asset management, investment management or multi-asset environments
  • Understanding of investment products such as private equity, derivatives, bonds and public markets
  • Strong Python and SQL skills, alongside broader data engineering expertise
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric would be advantageous
  • CFA qualification or progress towards CFA Level 1+ would be highly beneficial
  • Able to operate independently, engage stakeholders and take ownership of key initiatives

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Up to £100,000 base salary
  • Excellent pension contribution of up to 15%
  • Private medical insurance for you and your family
  • Life assurance, critical illness cover and income protection
  • Up to £600 annual gym contribution
  • 26 days holiday plus additional Christmas leave
  • 15 work-from-anywhere days per year
  • Sponsorship of professional qualifications
  • Hybrid working model (4 days in office)
