Power Platform Developer

Power Platform Developer position in South Wales - Hybrid working | Minimum 2 days per week onsite

A job opportunity has arisen for a Power Platform Developer to join a highly established and growing organisation that is based near Cardiff. This role will initially be a 12-month fixed-term-contract, with the possibility to get extended further past this initial period.

We're looking for an experienced Power Platform Developer to join an established Data and Technology environment during a significant period of business and systems transformation.

You'll take ownership of a portfolio of business-critical Power Apps, supporting and enhancing them through a major ERP go-live and their subsequent transition into business-as-usual support.

This is a hands-on role combining Power Apps development, application support, troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement. You'll work directly with users to resolve issues, understand requirements and deliver well-governed enhancements that provide genuine business value.

What you'll be doing

  • Taking ownership of existing business-critical Power Apps, ensuring their ongoing stability and effectiveness.
  • Investigating and resolving application incidents, defects and user-reported issues.
  • Developing and enhancing solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate and Microsoft Dataverse.
  • Building and improving Canvas Apps and, where appropriate, Model-Driven Apps.
  • Designing and maintaining Dataverse tables, relationships, security roles and data structures.
  • Developing and supporting Power Automate cloud flows and associated process automation.
  • Supporting applications before, during and after a major ERP go-live.
  • Working directly with business users to understand requirements, operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Distinguishing genuine defects from enhancement requests and ensuring new requirements are appropriately assessed and prioritised.
  • Supporting testing, releases, deployments, documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Maintaining strong standards around Power Platform governance, security, data integrity and development.
  • Supporting integrations between Power Platform solutions, ERP and other enterprise systems.
  • Working collaboratively across Data, Technology, project teams and the wider Power Platform community.

What we're looking for

You'll have strong commercial experience developing and supporting Microsoft Power Apps within a business environment, alongside:

  • Hands-on experience with Power Apps.
  • Strong experience using Power Automate.
  • Practical experience using Microsoft Dataverse as an application data platform.
  • Broad understanding of the wider Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem.
  • Experience supporting and enhancing existing applications, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and bug fixing.
  • Experience gathering and translating stakeholder requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Confidence working directly with business users and explaining technical concepts clearly.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including testing, deployment and documentation.
  • The ability to work independently, take ownership and manage competing incidents and enhancement requests.

This role would suit a practical, customer-focused developer who enjoys both building solutions and solving problems. You'll be comfortable taking ownership of applications, engaging directly with users and constructively challenging requirements when a proposed change may not provide sufficient business value. Strong problem-solving skills, commercial awareness and a commitment to good governance and development standards will be important.

This is primarily a Microsoft Power Platform / Power Apps role. Experience of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is beneficial, but D365 F&O expertise is not the core requirement.

Desirable experience

It would be particularly useful if you have experience with:

  • Supporting Power Apps within a complex or enterprise-scale environment.
  • Both Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps.
  • Power Platform governance, security, scope management and data integrity.
  • Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and/or integrating Power Platform solutions with a D365 F&O environment.
  • Supporting business-critical applications through a major ERP or systems go-live.
  • Power BI or other Microsoft data and reporting technologies.

This position offers a great working environment, excellent scope for career progression, plus a benefits package that includes:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Annual pay reviews
  • Life assurance plan
  • Free on-site car parking
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Subsidised onsite canteen
  • Onsite occupational health service
  • Local discounts
  • Salary sacrifice schemes (includes cycle to work schemes, car lease schemes and computer schemes)
  • Health cash plan
  • Hybrid/flexible working

An optional nine-day fortnight may also be available, subject to organisational arrangements.
