We have an opening for a Project Manager to join our IT department. This position would be suitable for a strong mid-level Project Manager, with experience running web or app development projects.
Our Team
The role of the project manager is firmly embedded within the Iceland IT department. The project management team, along with the ecommerce development squads, create a dynamic and collaborative environment where creativity and flexibility are embraced to explore new ideas. Project managers are focused on delivery and creating good relationships with stakeholders and squad members.
Projects are planned with defined business benefits, which are monitored post-launch to assess return on investment (ROI). Cross-functional discovery sessions are actively promoted to ensure a shared understanding of project scope and deliverables across the business.
The ecommerce IT team is consistently available to offer support, and a strong sense of teamwork is highly valued across all squads.

In this role, you can expect to:
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Technical Leads, and Stakeholders to develop realistic and achievable project plans.
- Take ownership of all project phases, including but not limited to; planning, delivery, user acceptance testing (UAT), and launch.
- Proactively identify and track risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies across the business, ensuring timely resolution.
- Work with all teams to identify and remove blockers that may impact progress.
- Monitor and manage scope to prevent and minimise scope creep.
- Escalate risks and issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Track project progress to ensure delivery aligns with the agreed scope and timelines.
- Facilitate daily and weekly project ceremonies such as stand-ups, planning sessions, demos, retrospectives, and estimation meetings.
- Maintain and organise project management tools (e.g., Jira) to support team efficiency and visibility.
- Oversee supplier contracts and ensure payment of invoices is on time for tools and systems used.
You should apply if you:
- Have proven experience in delivering both projects and programmes, with a solid understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall, and the ability to apply them appropriately based on project context.
- Demonstrated success in managing web and/or mobile app development projects.
- Skilled in engaging with stakeholders across cross-functional teams and at all organisational levels.
- Proactive in identifying potential issues and risks early, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Confident in providing regular, structured updates to stakeholders, including progress reports, RAID, and timeline tracking.
- Capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical users.
- Confident in managing and controlling scope to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining quality and focus across all initiatives.
