The Role
As a Data/Information Architect, you will lead the data architecture and information modelling for an airline operations supply chain implementation, ensuring that data across supply, demand, inventory and operational planning domains is structured, integrated and governed to support effective business decision-making. You will combine strong hands-on expertise in AWS, Databricks and data modelling with a solid understanding of supply chain processes and the SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) model, particularly Supply and Demand Planning. Working closely with business stakeholders, solution architects, functional consultants and engineering teams, you will translate airline operational requirements into scalable data solutions that enable end-to-end supply chain visibility, planning and optimisation.
Your responsibilities: (Up to 10, Avoid repetition)
Lead the data and information architecture for the airline operations supply chain implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives, solution design and enterprise architecture standards.
Design and implement scalable data architectures using AWS and Databricks, covering data ingestion, transformation, storage, processing and consumption.
Define conceptual, logical and physical data models for supply chain domains, including supply planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, resource availability and operational requirements.
Apply the SCOR model, particularly the Plan and Source processes and their associated supply and demand capabilities, to translate supply chain business processes into data entities, relationships, metrics and information flows.
Establish end-to-end data integration patterns across relevant airline operational systems, planning applications, enterprise platforms and external data sources.
Define data standards, business glossaries, master and reference data structures, data quality rules, lineage and governance requirements to ensure consistent and trusted information across the supply chain.
Collaborate with business and functional teams to understand supply and demand planning requirements, translate them into data architecture specifications and resolve data-related design challenges.
Provide technical leadership across architecture, engineering and implementation teams, reviewing solution designs and ensuring adherence to data modelling, performance, scalability, security and operational standards.
Define data architecture artefacts, including architecture diagrams, data flow designs, entity relationship models, interface specifications and implementation guidelines.
Support implementation, testing, performance optimisation and production readiness, ensuring that the data architecture meets functional and non-functional requirements and enables measurable business outcomes.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience: (Up to 10, Avoid repetition)
Proven experience as a Data Architect, Information Architect or Solution Architect delivering data-intensive supply chain or enterprise planning implementations.
Experience with supply chain planning solutions, demand forecasting, inventory optimisation and supply-demand balancing.
Knowledge of data mesh, domain-oriented data products, event-driven architecture and modern cloud data platform patterns.
Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS data services and cloud architecture, including relevant services for data ingestion, processing, storage, orchestration, security and monitoring.
Strong experience with Databricks, including Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, data engineering patterns and scalable data processing.
Expertise in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling, including dimensional modelling, relational modelling, entity relationships, data normalisation and data warehouse/lakehouse design.
Strong understanding of the SCOR model and its application to supply chain processes, particularly Supply and Demand Planning, forecasting, inventory and resource planning.
Experience translating supply chain business requirements into data models, information flows, integration specifications and architecture designs.
Experience integrating data across multiple enterprise and operational systems, including APIs, batch processing, event-driven integration and streaming where appropriate.
Knowledge of data governance, master data management, data quality, metadata management, lineage and data security in enterprise environments.
Ability to lead architecture discussions, assess design trade-offs, resolve complex data challenges and work effectively with business stakeholders, functional consultants and engineering teams.
Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts and architecture decisions to both technical and business audiences.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience: (As applicable)
Experience delivering data solutions for airline operations, aviation supply chains, maintenance planning, technical operations, material planning or MRO environments.
Familiarity with airline operational systems and data relating to aircraft, fleet availability, maintenance requirements, spare parts, inventory, suppliers and operational resource planning.
Experience with supply chain planning solutions, demand forecasting, inventory optimisation and supply-demand balancing.
Knowledge of data mesh, domain-oriented data products, event-driven architecture and modern cloud data platform patterns.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments and leading architecture governance, design reviews and implementation teams.
