Front End Engineer React UI/UX AI

About the Role
I'm working with an exciting, fast-growing AI start-up looking for a talented Front End Engineer to help build and shape its core product.
We're looking for someone with 5+ years of commercial experience, strong React and TypeScript skills, and a genuine passion for UI/UX and building exceptional user experiences.
This is an opportunity to join an ambitious start-up at an exciting stage of its growth, working closely with the founders and engineering team to turn complex AI capabilities into intuitive, engaging and user-friendly applications.
You'll have significant ownership over the front-end development, influence product decisions and play a key role in shaping the user experience from the ground up.
The position is fully remote across the UK, with only occasional visits to the London office required.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain high-quality front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
Build intuitive, responsive and visually engaging user interfaces.
Translate product requirements and design concepts into seamless user experiences.
Work directly with founders and engineers to shape product features and technical direction.
Integrate front-end applications with APIs, AI services and backend systems.
Help make complex AI functionality accessible through clean, intuitive UI/UX.
Contribute to front-end architecture, reusable components and coding standards.
Optimise application performance, accessibility and responsiveness.
Take ownership of features from concept through to delivery.
Work in a fast-paced start-up environment where ideas evolve quickly and engineering input is valued.
Essential Technical Skills
Strong commercial experience with React.
Excellent knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript.
Strong HTML5 and CSS3 skills.
Experience building responsive, modern web applications.
Solid understanding of UI/UX principles and user-centred design.
Experience integrating REST APIs and third-party services.
Familiarity with Git and modern front-end development workflows.
Experience building maintainable and scalable front-end applications.
Desirable Experience
Experience working with AI-powered products or SaaS platforms.
Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI.
Experience integrating OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or similar AI APIs.
Experience with Next.js.
Familiarity with modern UI frameworks and component libraries.
Previous experience in a start-up or early-stage product team.
Exposure to AI-assisted development tools and rapid prototyping.
