People & Culture Manager (Software / SaaS)

People & Culture Manager

Hybrid (Software / SaaS Organisation)

£45,000 - £50,000 plus excellent benefits including mainly remote working (3-5 office days per month – London or Glasgow), bonus, private healthcare, enhanced pension, generous holiday allowance, critical illness cover, life assurance, dedicated monthly training time and more.

My client is a fast-growing B2B software company on a mission to raise the bar within its specialist industry. With a small but growing team and ambitious growth plans, they are now looking for a Strategic People & Culture Manager to own and evolve the people function, combining hands-on delivery with thoughtful, data-led people strategy.

Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, you'll become the driving force behind the employee experience, helping to shape a culture where people can do their best work while supporting the business through its next phase of growth.

Why this role is different;

This isn't a role where you'll inherit a mature HR department and simply maintain existing processes.

Instead, you'll join at an exciting stage in the company's journey, where you'll have the opportunity to genuinely influence how the people function develops as the business scales.

You'll have a seat at the table, direct access to senior leadership and the autonomy to introduce new ideas, improve ways of working and implement people initiatives that make a real difference. Whether that's enhancing the employee experience, developing managers, strengthening recruitment processes, embedding company values or introducing new people programmes, you'll be encouraged to take ownership and leave your mark on the organisation.

This role would suit an ambitious HR professional who has gained experience within a small, growing software or SaaS business and is ready to take the next step in their career, broadening their impact and strategic involvement while remaining close to the day-to-day people experience.

Duties:

Culture & Engagement

  • Champion company values and help turn them into everyday behaviours.
  • Create meaningful connections across a remote-first workforce through engaging communication, events and initiatives.
  • Design, manage and act upon employee engagement surveys and feedback programmes.
  • Drive initiatives that strengthen employee wellbeing, retention and engagement.

Strategic Partnership

  • Partner closely with the CEO and leadership team, providing people insights that support business decisions.
  • Contribute to organisational planning and workforce development initiatives.
  • Help design and facilitate monthly and quarterly company meetings.
  • Use people data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Own the end-to-end recruitment process.
  • Partner with hiring managers on role design, structured interviews and selection processes.
  • Enhance the employer brand and candidate experience.
  • Deliver an engaging onboarding experience that sets new starters up for success.

Performance & Development

  • Lead the six-monthly performance review process.
  • Support managers to set meaningful goals and development plans.
  • Help embed a culture of continuous feedback and professional growth.
  • Identify learning and development opportunities.

Manager Coaching & Employee Relations

  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers across the employee lifecycle.
  • Build management capability through coaching and guidance.
  • Independently manage employee relations matters including probation, performance management, disciplinaries and grievances.
  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant, pragmatic and people-focused.

People Operations & HR Systems

  • Own and optimise the HRIS platform and employee data.
  • Ensure GDPR, Right to Work and employment compliance requirements are maintained.
  • Continuously improve HR processes, systems and documentation.
  • Produce meaningful people reports and insights for leadership.

Office & Business Operations

  • Oversee light-touch facilities management for small offices.
  • Coordinate key policy renewals and compliance-related activities.

We're open to someone taking a step up into this position, provided you've gained recent experience within a small, growing software or SaaS business and understand the pace, challenges and opportunities that come with scaling organisations.

You'll be excited by the prospect of building rather than maintaining, comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed, and motivated by the opportunity to shape how a growing business attracts, develops and retains great people.

What you'll bring

  • Recent HR Generalist, HR Manager or People Partner experience within a small, growing software or SaaS business (typically 30-100 employees).
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification.
  • Experience supporting a scaling business.
  • Strong employee relations knowledge and experience managing cases end-to-end.
  • Proven experience managing recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Experience working with HR systems and maintaining accurate people data.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to balance people needs with business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a genuine desire to improve how things are done.
  • Comfortable operating strategically while remaining involved in day-to-day delivery.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary with discretionary bonus, private healthcare, enhanced pension, 23 days annual leave plus holiday buy/sell scheme, hybrid working with a predominantly remote model, critical illness cover and life assurance, employee assistance programme, dedicated monthly learning and development time, a genuinely collaborative culture built on trust, openness and continuous improvement, the opportunity to shape and influence the people function within a growing SaaS business.

If you're looking for a role where your ideas will be heard, your contribution will be visible and you'll have the opportunity to help shape the future of a growing technology business, we'd love to hear from you.
