Business Analyst - Underwriting Workbench - Outside IR35 Contract
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Business Analyst with extensive experience in Specialty Insurance, who can bridge underwriting expertise with technology delivery.
You’ll play a key role in defining business requirements, streamlining underwriting processes, and guiding the successful delivery of a new, custom-built workbench platform that integrates CRM, workflow, and data intelligence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Underwriters, Product Owners, and Technology teams to define detailed business and functional requirements for the custom Underwriting Workbench.
- Map, analyse, and optimize underwriting workflows, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate closely with development teams (including an offshore contingent) to ensure requirements are clearly understood, refined, and delivered effectively.
- Drive integration activities with existing policy administration, claims, and workflow systems, ensuring a seamless flow of data and functionality.
- Engage with stakeholders to refine CRM and client engagement functionality — enabling a holistic, portfolio-wide client view.
- Facilitate regular user feedback sessions, demos, and iterative improvements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support the incorporation of AI-enabled features such as document/contract analysis, email triage, and straight-through processing.
- Maintain clear boundaries between analysis, testing, and delivery ownership while promoting collaboration and continuous improvement across teams.
Experience & Skills Required
- Extensive experience as a Business Analyst within Specialty Insurance, ideally across Lloyd’s or London Market environments.
- Deep understanding of Underwriting processes, workflows, and operational pain points within Specialty lines.
- Proven track record in insurance system implementation and integration, preferably within custom or complex environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — able to influence across Underwriting, IT, and Data teams.
- Experience working with offshore or distributed delivery teams, fostering engagement and accountability across remote workstreams.
- Exposure to AI or automation initiatives (e.g., contract analytics, workflow intelligence, or decision support tools) is highly desirable.
- A collaborative, engaging personality — capable of bridging business vision with technical execution in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
