A leading FTSE 100 organisation headquartered in York, operating at enterprise scale across the UK, is seeking an experienced Unified Communications Engineer to join its Group IT function. The business supports a large, geographically distributed estate and operates complex, business-critical communication platforms that underpin daily operations nationwide.
This is an opportunity to work within a maturing enterprise IT environment, contributing to high-availability, secure, and resilient communication services across a multi-site organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Unified Communication Engineer you will support the delivery, performance, and continuous improvement of customer-facing communication platforms. You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise Unified Communications services including telephony, contact centre, mobile services, video conferencing, and connectivity platforms, ensuring services operate in line with agreed SLAs and KPIs.
This is a hands-on technical role within a fast-paced enterprise environment.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise Unified Communications services including telephony, contact centre, mobile services, video conferencing, and connectivity platforms, ensuring services operate in line with agreed SLAs and KPIs.

Key Responsibilities
- Support operational performance of Unified Communications platforms
- Provide 3rd line support across telephony, collaboration, mobile and conferencing services
- Deliver changes to customer communication systems in line with business requirements
- Assist with major incident response and service restoration
- Maintain platform life cycle management including firmware and vendor updates
- Monitor performance and ensure compliance with SLAs
- Work with, internal teams, third-party providers and telecom carriers
- Maintain technical documentation and asset records
- Support Cyber Security & Infrastructure Improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar Unified Communications or Network Services role
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN and WLAN technologies
- Strong working knowledge of SIP.
- Experience supporting telephony systems, mobile services, and conferencing platforms
- Experience working with third-party telecom and network providers
- Experience supporting unified communications delivery and operations
- Strong troubleshooting and incident resolution capability
- Strong understanding of Video Conferencing platforms
- Troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, PowerShell etc.
Desirable:
- Ringcentral EX & CX platforms
- Experience working with Gamma STCM
- Experience providing mobile carrier-based management support - MDM
- Understanding of Apple and Android devices
- M365 Teams Voice Engineer or equivalent
- Knowledge of Entra, O365, and Intune.
