Software Engineer - Python & AI
Location: Ipswich - Fully Onsite
Salary: Up to £70,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
We are recruiting an experienced Software Engineer with strong Python development skills and practical experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
This is an opportunity for a Software Engineer to take ownership of software solutions from design through to delivery, working on technically challenging projects that combine traditional software engineering with modern AI capabilities.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of software architecture, scalable application development and AI-assisted development tools, alongside the ability to work independently and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities for the Software Engineer:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable Python applications
- Take ownership of software solutions from design through to deployment
- Integrate AI and Generative AI tools into development processes
- Contribute to system architecture, code quality and performance optimisation
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement improvements
- Collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders
Essential Experience for the Software Engineer:
- Strong Python development and software engineering experience
- Experience with system design and application architecture
- Knowledge of AI, Generative AI tools and AI-assisted development
- Experience building scalable, maintainable applications
- Strong debugging, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
Desirable Experience for the Software Engineer:
- Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure or GCP
- REST APIs, microservices and distributed systems
- DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Kiro
