Electronics Test Engineer

We are working with a well-established, globally backed electronics manufacturer in the North East who are continuing to invest in their engineering capability due to ongoing growth.

This is a hands-on Electronics Test Engineer position within a high-spec manufacturing environment, supporting the development, optimisation and maintenance of test systems for complex electronic products used in critical applications.

The Role

The position offers a broad remit across production support, test development and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting production with automated test equipment
  • Fault finding to component level on electronic assemblies
  • Designing and building test hardware and fixtures
  • Developing and modifying test software (e.g. LabVIEW, Python)
  • Interpreting customer test specifications and translating into internal processes
  • Driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability
  • Supporting new product introduction activities
  • Producing and maintaining technical documentation, including test procedures and schematics
  • Acting as a key point of contact for test-related activity across the site

Requirements

  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience within an electronics manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic capability
  • Experience using standard test instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and signal generators
  • Exposure to automated test systems
  • Interest or experience in programming (LabVIEW, Python, C++, VB or similar)
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small engineering team
