OT & Automation Engineer
Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting a leading manufacturing business in the appointment of an OT & Automation Engineer to join their engineering team in Gateshead.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Automation, Controls or OT professional to take ownership of the site's industrial control systems, automation infrastructure and digitalisation roadmap.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving PLC, SCADA and Industrial Control Systems, supporting automation projects, managing industrial networks and ensuring operational technology systems remain secure, reliable and fit for future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise on PLC, SCADA and Industrial Control Systems.
- Support fault finding, system upgrades and automation improvement projects.
- Maintain industrial control system backups, recovery plans and network architecture documentation.
- Lead and support OT cybersecurity initiatives across site.
- Work closely with engineering, operations and external automation partners to deliver digitalisation projects.
- Support the implementation of new technologies, monitoring tools and automation solutions.
- Assist in developing long-term automation and digital transformation strategies.
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who have experience in:
- PLC programming and fault finding, ideally Siemens, Allen Bradley, ABB or Honeywell systems.
- SCADA and Industrial Control Systems.
- Industrial networking and communication protocols such as Profibus, Modbus and Ethernet.
- OT Cyber Security, network architecture and system resilience
- Digitalisation, automation or Industry 4.0 projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Database and data collection technologies including OPC and SQL.
