Senior Electromechanical Technician
Senior Electromechanical Technician
We're partnering with an innovative engineering business that specialises in developing and delivering complex automated systems, intelligent machinery and advanced electromechanical equipment for customers operating at the forefront of technology.
This is not a production-line maintenance role and it is not a repetitive assembly position.
Instead, you'll be joining a highly skilled multidisciplinary engineering team, taking ownership of the build, integration, testing and commissioning of sophisticated prototype and low-volume production systems. You'll play a key role in turning engineering concepts into fully functioning machines, often working on projects where designs are still evolving and technical challenges require practical engineering judgement and problem-solving.
The Opportunity
As Senior Electromechanical Technician, you'll act as the workshop technical lead for electrical build and integration activities, supporting the successful delivery of complex machinery, automation equipment and robotic systems. You'll work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Software Engineers, providing valuable feedback throughout development and helping ensure equipment is reliable, maintainable and ready for deployment.
This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role, with the majority of your time spent building, wiring, integrating, testing, fault-finding and commissioning advanced equipment rather than sitting behind a desk.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading complex electromechanical builds, integration activities, testing and commissioning programmes.
- Building, assembling and wiring industrial machinery, control systems, electrical panels and equipment to a consistently high standard.
- Supporting prototype, development and low-volume production projects.
- Interpreting electrical schematics, wiring schedules, mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Diagnosing faults and resolving technical issues during build and commissioning.
- Working with engineering teams to identify design improvements and enhance manufacturability.
- Providing practical technical leadership and support to less experienced technicians.
- Helping drive quality, continuous improvement and engineering best practice throughout the workshop.
What Makes This Role Different?
The biggest difference to this role and a typical technicans role is the variety and complexity of the work.
You'll be working on:
- Advanced automation systems
- Robotic equipment
- Special-purpose machinery
- Prototype development programmes
- Complex electromechanical integrations
- Projects where your expertise directly influences the final solution
If you enjoy solving engineering problems, working with cutting-edge technology and seeing a machine come to life from concept through to commissioning, you'll find plenty to get stuck into here.
We're keen to speak with experienced engineers who can demonstrate:
- A completed engineering apprenticeship in Electrical, Electromechanical or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience building, wiring, integrating and commissioning industrial machinery, automation equipment, robotic systems or special-purpose machinery.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability.
- The ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.
- Confidence working in fast-moving technical environments where priorities and designs can evolve.
