Infrastructure Engineer/ Network Systems

Salary: £50,000-£60,000
I’m recruiting on behalf of a technology-focused organisation seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance a mixed on-prem and cloud environment. The role requires strong skills across virtualisation, Microsoft platforms, and modern device management, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Intune. Experience with Purview will be considered a significant advantage.
You will work across daily administration, troubleshooting, and strategic improvement projects, operating in a fast-moving environment with varied configurations. The position involves both remote and on-site work and requires someone comfortable owning complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.
Main Responsibilities
• Manage and support Windows Server, Active Directory, and Hyper-V environments.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft Intune for device management, compliance, and policy configuration.
• Purview experience is highly advantageous, particularly around data governance and security.
• Troubleshoot issues across virtual machines, storage platforms, and hybrid cloud services.
• Coordinate upgrade cycles, patching strategies, and capacity planning.
• Maintain enterprise server and storage infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Provide senior (3rd-line) escalation support to internal teams.
• Assist with solution design, documentation, and operational procedures.
• Monitor backups, system performance, and network health, escalating recommendations as required.
• Liaise with external vendors for support, procurement, and project planning.
• Contribute to secure system design, policy implementation, and compliance-driven improvements.
Essential Skills and Experience
• Strong background managing Windows Server, Hyper-V, and enterprise storage platforms.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Intune; Purview expertise is a major plus.
• Certifications such as MCSE or CCNA are desirable.
• Solid understanding of security protocols, compliance requirements, and risk management.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation abilities.
• Experience with DR/BCP planning and datacentre-grade environments.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and operate flexibly.
• Understanding of GDPR requirements.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for installations and upgrades.
