Application Support Manager

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Application Support Manager to lead our Application Support function and ensure the stability, reliability, and performance of core business applications, support and improve a range of business-critical applications, deliver excellent user experience, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

In this role you will play a key role in optimising cloud-based applications across learner management systems, educational tools, booking platforms, and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Your work will directly support our mission to create an intuitive, secure, and connected working environment for all colleagues.

This exciting group-based role would be perfect for an Applications Support Manager who thrives in a cloud-first environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and can lead and mentor support specialists while working collaboratively across the businesses.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

. Providing 1st and 2nd line application support for business-critical systems, ensuring timely resolution

. Managing application lifecycle, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching, ensuring minimal disruption to users

. Monitoring and maintaining system performance, availability, and security across supported applications

. Using tools and logs to proactively identify issues

. Ensuring compliance with data protection, licensing, and security policies

. Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to escalate and resolve complex application issues

. Providing insights and reports on application performance

. Leading and mentoring application support specialist and allocate resources effectively and manage workload priorities

What we need from you:

. ITIL 4 Managing Professional/Foundation Certification

. HND/HNC/Level 5 in Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred but not always mandatory

. Experience supporting learner management platforms within the apprenticeship and/or education sector preferred

. Confident and advanced user of Microsoft 365 Applications (Teams/SharePoint/PowerPoint)

. Knowledge of platforms like Azure, AWS, or hybrid setups.

. Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow)

. Ability to triage and troubleshoot application issues using structured ITIL processes

. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

. Maintains a strong understanding of data protection and application security principles when handling sensitive information
