Role Overview

We are seeking an SRA-regulated immigration solicitor to act as Legal & Regulatory Counsel on a

part-time consultancy basis.

This role will provide legal oversight of our AI-powered guidance system, supervise the design and

operation of our lawyer-in-the-loop functionality, and ensure that LawNeeds maintains a compliant,

risk-managed structure as we scale through beta and commercial launch.

This is a strategic governance role, not a case-handling role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversight of Lawyer-in-the-Loop Functionality

• Supervise escalation protocols from AI to human solicitor

• Define legal risk thresholds for referral

• Review workflow logic with the product and engineering teams

• Ensure referral arrangements are compliant with SRA Standards & Regulations

• Oversee onboarding framework for partner solicitors

• Advise on separation between platform activity and regulated legal services

2. AI Legal Accuracy & Risk Supervision

• Review sample AI outputs for legal accuracy and risk exposure

• Advise on permissible scope of AI-generated legal information

• Assist in drafting AI usage disclaimers

• Help establish internal legal quality assurance procedures

• Advise on mitigating unauthorised practice of law risks

• Provide guidance on immigration-specific regulatory considerations

• Assist in conducting legal research to support the development and quarterly updates of

LawNeeds legal dataset

3. Legal Documentation & Corporate Compliance

• Review and update:

◦ Terms & Conditions (Users, Lawyers, Law firms, A2J Partners)

◦ Privacy Policy

◦ Disclaimer language◦ Referral agreements

◦ Partner solicitor agreements

◦ Internal compliance policies

• Advise on:

◦ Professional indemnity coverage sufficiency

◦ Platform liability structure

◦ Regulatory positioning

◦ Risk disclosures

4. Immigration Law Oversight

• Provide high-level oversight of immigration legal flows

• Validate AI-generated legal guidance boundaries (e.g., spouse visa, FLR(FP), asylum intake)

• Advise on regulated activity boundaries

• Ensure compliance with UK immigration advisory regulations

5. Strategic Regulatory Advisory

• Advise the founders on long-term regulatory positioning

• Assess future options (e.g., ABS authorisation if appropriate / SRA-regulation)

• Assist with investor due diligence queries relating to legal risk

• Provide governance-level input as required

6. Additional Functions

• Review of marketing claims to avoid misleading legal positioning

• Oversight of content used in ads relating to legal services

• Input on legal complaints-handling framework

• Advising on regulatory interaction strategy if queried by SRA or IAA

What This Role Is NOT

• Not responsible for representing individual users

• Not acting as legal representative for LawNeeds clients

• Not reviewing every user query

• Not operating as a full-time in-house counsel

• Not required to conduct litigation

Required Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor of England & Wales

• Authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority

• Experience in UK Immigration Law (essential)

• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance

• Experience with digital platforms, startups, or legal tech (preferred)

• Understanding of AI risk frameworks (desirable but not essential)

• Understanding/Experience with other areas of law we intend to expand to: Employment law,

Road Traffic Offences, Family law (desirable but not essential)

Engagement Structure

• Part-time consultancy basis

• Remote

• Flexible hours

• Expected higher involvement during beta and launch phases

Work Schedule and Compensation (Weekly)

• Biweekly Part-time schedule (2 days every fortnight - Week 1 & Week 3)

• 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Remote with occasional in-person meetings in London if required)

• Hourly rate: £30/hour.

• Daily rate: £240

• Monthly rate: £960

• Compensation will reflect the early-stage nature of the startup and may include future equity

participation for the right candidate.
