Our client, a Devon-based manufacturing business, is migrating from a legacy ERP system to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. We are seeking a hands-on BC365 Finance Implementation Consultant to support the finance workstream through UAT, data validation, reporting, cutover, go-live, and the first period-end close.

This is a practical delivery role. You will work closely with the Head of Finance, process owners, the project team, and the external implementation partner to close outstanding UAT gaps and support a controlled transition to Business Central.

What you'll do

  • Produce clear, screen-level finance work instructions for Record to Report, Source to Pay, and Order to Cash.
  • Close out outstanding UAT 1 items, retest fixes, and prepare the finance workstream for UAT 2.
  • Refine and execute finance test scripts for UAT 2 and UAT 3; log defects and support retest cycles.
  • Validate finance data loads, including chart of accounts, cost centres, dimensions, and opening balances.
  • Review finance permissions and segregation of duties with the implementation partner.
  • Support and validate BC365 finance reports, including ODBC based reporting, reconciled to legacy outputs.
  • Refine work instructions and prepare final user-facing documentation for go-live.
  • Support two mock period-end closes, including reconciliation to the legacy system.
  • Document the new period-end close process, including timelines, responsibilities, and reconciliation checkpoints.
  • Provide hands-on cutover support and assist with the first live period-end close.
  • Complete knowledge transfer, documentation, and walkthroughs before engagement end.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation experience across finance configuration, setup, reporting, and data migration.
  • Strong knowledge of GL, AP, AR, period-end close, costing, and management reporting.
  • Experience writing practical, screen-level work instructions and end-user documentation.
  • Proven UAT experience: test scripts, defect logs, and retest cycles.
  • Experience validating ERP finance data migrations and reconciliations.
  • BC365 reporting experience, ideally including ODBC.
  • Manufacturing or FMCG BC365 implementation experience; standard costing and routings are highly desirable.
  • Understanding of audit trails, approval workflows, and segregation of duties in BC365.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior finance stakeholders.
