MILO Recruit is working with an established and growing engineering manufacturer based near Knutsford, Cheshire, looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join its product development team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys developing innovative products, combining electrical design, electronic control systems and practical engineering to take products from initial concept through to manufacture.
Working within a small, collaborative engineering team, you will play an important role in the development of new and existing machinery and equipment. The position offers genuine involvement throughout the full product lifecycle, from early design and prototyping through to testing, production and continuous improvement.
The Role
You will be responsible for the electrical and electronic aspects of product development, working closely with mechanical design engineers and external manufacturing partners.
A significant part of the role will involve designing and developing wiring looms, electrical systems and control solutions for machinery and equipment.
You will also contribute to the development of bespoke electronic control solutions, including helping to specify and develop a new controller to replace an existing off the shelf system.
Responsibilities will include electrical design, wiring diagrams, component selection, control system specification, prototype development, testing and troubleshooting.
You will work alongside mechanical engineers to ensure electrical and electronic systems are fully integrated into new and existing products, supporting designs through to manufacture and final assembly.
What We're Looking For
We are particularly interested in engineers with experience in electrical design, mechatronics, machinery control systems or electronic product development.
Ideally, you will have experience designing wiring looms or harnesses, producing electrical schematics and selecting suitable electrical and electronic components.
An understanding of embedded controllers, electronic control systems or basic programming would be a strong advantage, particularly if you have been involved in developing or specifying bespoke control solutions.
Experience working with machinery, agricultural equipment, automotive systems, commercial vehicles, special purpose machinery or other electromechanical products would be particularly relevant.
You should be comfortable working closely with mechanical engineers and getting involved in practical testing, fault finding and prototype development.
Experience and Qualifications
A qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline would be beneficial.
We are open to considering engineers at different stages of their careers, including more junior candidates with a strong technical foundation and the enthusiasm to develop their skills.
