Digital IT Support Specialist

Job summary

The role involves maintaining the technology infrastructure, including installations, configuration, upgrades, and support of all client systems infrastructure on desktops and virtual Windows servers.

It also includes supporting the Trust's electronic patient record system, EPIC, and providing technical guidance and support to colleagues to deliver seamless 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support services.

Main duties of the job

  • Support and assist Digital IT Support and End User Technology colleagues in planning, organising, and delivering high-quality end-user technologies consistent with healthcare industry standards and EPIC best practices.
  • Provide technical expertise in the administration of supporting infrastructure and applications, including maintaining antivirus systems, VDI environments, hardware asset management, and mobile device management tools.
  • Support the maintenance of the Trust's systems and applications in both on-premises and cloud-based environments.
  • Advise and support Digital Support and End User Technology colleagues on capacity and availability management, recommending efficient and effective solutions.
  • Lead on the installation, configuration, management, maintenance, and monitoring of all workspace devices, hardware, and software upgrades in line with Trust standards.
  • Provide specialist technical advice on the security and confidentiality protection of the Trust's PCs, mobile devices, and data against external and internal security breaches.
  • Ensure the management, monitoring, and resolution of incidents, problems, and service requests in own areas in line with agreed timescales, processes, and procedures.
  • Support and assist Digital Support and End User Technology colleagues in delivering seamless digital support services, covering 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support with knowledge sharing at the core.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Post Grad qualification or equivalent or relevant experience
  • Microsoft MCP/MSCE qualifications or relevant experience
  • Evidence of Personal Development
Desirable
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in an IT related subject

Experience / Knowledge

Essential
  • Extensive technical background in IT working in an Infrastructure support role
  • Experience in working in a large, complex workspace (desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile device and printers)
  • Experience in installation, configuration, upgrade, managing windows operating systems
  • Advanced knowledge in Sever & Desktop Virtualisation, Exchange / Email, Active Directory, SCCM.
  • Experience in managing a Virtual Desktop Environment
  • Proven experience in delivering business / disaster recovery plans and service continuity
  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Best Practice
  • Experience in capacity planning, availability and performance monitoring in a PC environment
Desirable
  • Previous experience in NHS IT environment
  • Previous experience in supervisory role
  • Knowledge of Local Area Network / Wide Area Network concepts
  • Knowledge of Internet / Intranet concepts
  • Working knowledge of VM Ware View and Citrix environments
  • Project Management methodology
