Electronics Team Leader

Electronics Team Leader
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum + excellent bonus scheme (to 15%) (note: salary may be flexible)
Location: Havant, Hampshire (Mild Hybrid Working Scheme Available)
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role We are seeking an enthusiastic, hands-on Electronics Team Leader to head a multidisciplinary team of 4 to 6 hardware and firmware engineers. Operating within a small, collaborative engineering environment, you will wear multiple hats—balancing technical leadership, project delivery, and hands-on laboratory work. In this role, you will take full ownership of projects across their complete lifecycle, driving products from initial concept through strict regulatory compliance and smoothly transitioning them into high-volume manufacturing. You will also represent the electronics division within cross-functional teams, managing group-wide stakeholders and coordinating directly with technology and PCBA suppliers. Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Direct supervision, mentorship, and management of a small project-aligned team comprising hardware and software engineers, supported by an engineering technician.
  • Hardware Design: Deliver analogue and digital circuit design for microcontroller (MCU) and microprocessor (MPU) based systems at both the PCBA and system level.
  • Compliance & Validation: Lead design validation testing (DVT) and technical troubleshooting to ensure all systems meet rigorous compliance, safety, and performance standards.
  • Lifecycle Management: Take feature concepts and turn them into functional engineering specifications, guiding component selection, prototyping, and NPI (New Product Introduction) workflows.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Deliver robust technical documentation, handle configuration management, and manage electronic releases alongside global supply chains and manufacturing facilities.
About You The company places a premium on aptitude and attitude over an exact checklist of skills. They are looking for an outward-looking collaborator with a continuous improvement mindset who can elevate those around them. Preferred Experience:
  • Manufacturing Background: Strong engineering background in hardware or electronics, specifically taking highly regulated, high-volume manufactured products from concept to market.
  • Circuit Design & Safety: Competency in MCU/MPU digital/analogue circuit layout, schematic design, and debugging.
  • Compliance Standards: Direct experience designing for EMC compliance, performance optimisation, and global safety testing frameworks.
Valuable (Nice-to-Have) Areas of Expertise:
  • Power electronics and control electronics.
  • TFT screen integration and graphical user interface functionality.
  • Sensor integration and measurement systems (e.g., temperature, weight, speed).
  • Lighting control systems.
  • A foundational understanding of embedded and application software workflows.
Additional Requirements
  • Travel: Willingness to travel internationally to visit suppliers and production sites approximately 3-4 times per year.
What's on Offer
  • Competitive salary up to £70k plus an excellent performance bonus scheme.
  • Outstanding contributory pension scheme.
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
  • Subsidised on-site restaurant and free parking.
  • Comprehensive flexible benefits package and regular wellness events.
