We are recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation in the retail sector for an experienced Disaster Recovery SME. This is a global-level position responsible for developing, reviewing, and strengthening Disaster Recovery (DR) capabilities across multiple countries and business units.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience engaging senior stakeholders internationally, assessing DR maturity across diverse environments, and delivering robust frameworks aligned with organisational and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Disaster Recovery frameworks for multiple entities across the group.
  • Engage with executive and leadership teams in each country to understand current readiness and gather required information.
  • Conduct detailed assessments and gap analyses for entities without existing DR plans.
  • Review and validate DR plans produced by third-party vendors, identifying oversights or areas for improvement.
  • Define roles and responsibilities across internal teams and external service providers.
  • Strengthen governance and ensure consistency in DR processes across all regions.
  • Perform annual DR testing for each entity to ensure ongoing suitability and compliance with technological, regulatory, and operational changes.
  • Work with countries at varying levels of DR maturity, adapting approach to local cultures and communication styles.
  • Support back-office functions through an upcoming technical migration by ensuring appropriate DR provisions are in place.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to secure necessary resources and ensure timely delivery of DR activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering Disaster Recovery programmes in a global, multi-country environment.
  • Strong background in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Cyber Governance, and related frameworks.
  • Experience engaging senior leadership teams and managing complex stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with systems integrators and external service providers.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different cultures and communication styles.
  • Experience reviewing vendor-provided DR plans and identifying gaps or inefficiencies.
  • Ability to balance group-level standards with local operational requirements.
  • Broad understanding of cybersecurity areas including SOC operations, IAM, and governance structures.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and documentation skills.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally when required (minimal but possible).
