Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Digital Assurance Lead to provide technical leadership and independent assurance across major healthcare infrastructure and capital programmes.
This is a senior assurance and governance role focused on reviewing, challenging, and assuring digital designs, technology infrastructure solutions, and smart building strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will act as a trusted technical authority, ensuring digital solutions align with programme standards, design requirements, governance frameworks, and best practice while identifying risks, non-compliances, and integration challenges before they impact delivery.
This is not a digital transformation, software delivery, or product management role. We are looking for someone with hands-on experience reviewing and assuring complex digital infrastructure and technology designs within large-scale built environment programmes.
Suitable applicants are likely to come from Digital Assurance, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, Technical Architecture, Smart Buildings, Healthcare Technology, or Technical Design Authority backgrounds, with experience reviewing and assuring complex digital and technology designs within large-scale programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead independent technical assurance reviews of digital and technology design submissions.
Assess designs against agreed standards, specifications, governance frameworks, and programme requirements.
Review digital infrastructure, technology, and smart building solutions throughout the design lifecycle.
Identify, document, and escalate technical risks, integration issues, and non-compliances.
Produce assurance reports, validation outputs, technical reviews, and exception documentation.
Provide expert input into design reviews, approval gateways, and technical governance forums.
Monitor digital design maturity and ensure projects are progressing in line with programme expectations.
Coordinate specialist input across technology infrastructure, data, smart buildings, and connected systems.
Challenge and support multidisciplinary design teams to achieve compliant and effective solutions.
Work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues.
Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across project teams.
Essential Experience:
Proven experience in digital assurance, technical assurance, design assurance, architecture governance, or technical authority roles.
Experience reviewing and approving complex digital, technology, or infrastructure designs.
Strong understanding of technology infrastructure, networks, systems integration, and enterprise technologies.
Experience working within large-scale capital projects, infrastructure programmes, healthcare estates, government projects, aviation, rail, defence, or similarly complex environments.
Ability to identify technical risks, challenge designs, and drive resolution through effective stakeholder engagement.
Experience producing formal assurance, governance, and technical review documentation.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage senior technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly Desirable:
Healthcare or NHS programme experience.
Digital infrastructure within the built environment.
Smart buildings, intelligent buildings, or connected estate technologies.
RIBA design stages and construction project lifecycle knowledge.
Technology master planning and systems integration experience.
Knowledge of healthcare technology environments and associated governance processes.
Experience working as a Design Authority, Technical Authority, Digital Assurance Manager, Technical Assurance Lead, or Senior Solution Architect.
