Location: Manchester (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week onsite)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Solution Architect to join a large-scale transformation programme within a complex enterprise environment.

You will be responsible for leading solution design activities across the SAP landscape, ensuring architecture standards are maintained, technical risks are managed, and business requirements are translated into scalable, future-proof solutions.

This role requires a strong blend of architecture leadership, stakeholder engagement, governance and SAP delivery expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture across SAP S/4HANA programmes and strategic initiatives.
• Define and govern end-to-end solution designs across multiple workstreams.
• Establish and maintain architecture principles, standards and governance processes.
• Operate within Design Authority processes, ensuring solution quality and alignment to strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, delivery teams and third-party suppliers.
• Review and challenge solution proposals from implementation partners and vendors.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies and solution gaps, providing pragmatic recommendations.
• Produce architecture artefacts, roadmaps and supporting documentation.
• Support future-state architecture planning and Legacy application rationalisation activities.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect delivering large-scale SAP S/4HANA programmes.
• Strong understanding of SAP architecture, integration patterns and enterprise application landscapes.
• Experience operating within Design Authority and architecture governance frameworks.
• Demonstrable experience working across multiple delivery partners and third-party suppliers.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior business and technology leaders.
• Experience defining architecture principles, standards and target-state roadmaps.
• Ability to balance business priorities, delivery timelines and technical risk.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Desirable

• SAP Private Cloud or hybrid cloud experience.
• SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors, Analytics Cloud or wider SAP ecosystem experience.
• TOGAF or equivalent architecture framework experience.
• Experience within large, complex transformation programmes.
• Experience in asset-intensive, operationally critical or highly regulated environments.
