Maintenance Technician

Motiontech designs, installs, and maintains automated material handling systems for major UK retailers and logistics businesses. Their on-site engineering teams keep complex distribution operations running around the clock. This is a genuine entry point into automation engineering, you’ll learn on the job, supported by experienced engineers who know the systems inside out. 

Reporting to the Lead Maintenance Engineer, you'll work as part of the on-site maintenance team in Hinckley, helping to keep the automation running to plan. You'll pick up hands-on experience across planned maintenance, reactive tasks, and system monitoring, building a solid foundation for a long-term engineering career. 

You'll: 

• Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks in line with the CMMS schedule 

• Respond to reactive issues quickly, keeping downtime to a minimum 

• Log all activity on the CMMS; faults, spares, time, and machine data 

• Maintain good housekeeping standards across all automated areas 

• Work closely with the customer's operational team day to day 

• Follow all health and safety requirements on site 

What you'll bring 

Essential: 

• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts including weekends 

• Good communication skills and a reliable, organised approach 

• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team 

Useful, not essential: 

• Any prior exposure to engineering, warehousing, or logistics environments 

• Familiarity with maintenance or facilities work, even in a different sector
