Working across embedded systems, autonomous platforms and mission-critical applications, the business is tackling complex challenges in safety, reliability, verification and certification.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to pioneering technologies that will help make autonomous systems safer, more reliable and ready for deployment in demanding environments.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position, your duties may include but are not limited to:
- Define and implement verification and validation strategies for safety-critical software and embedded systems.
- Develop verification plans, test frameworks, test strategies and certification evidence.
- Perform requirements-based verification across complex software and system architectures.
- Support software verification against recognised safety-critical development and certification standards.
- Develop and execute tests to demonstrate system robustness, reliability and safety.
- Support integration, system, qualification and acceptance testing.
- Maintain requirements traceability, verification coverage and certification documentation.
- Collaborate with software, systems and safety engineers to ensure verification is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
- Apply advanced verification techniques, including automated testing, fault injection, fuzz testing, Monte Carlo simulation, formal methods and static analysis.
- Identify potential failure modes, system weaknesses and verification gaps.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to support assurance, regulatory compliance and certification milestones.
- Contribute to robust safety monitoring, fail-safe architectures and continuous improvement of verification processes.
What You Will Need to Apply:
- Strong experience in verification and validation of safety-critical software, embedded systems or complex engineering systems.
- Experience working within regulated or safety-critical engineering environments.
- A strong understanding of software development lifecycles, requirements-based testing and verification processes.
- Experience developing verification plans, test strategies and certification or compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of requirements traceability, verification coverage and embedded or real-time software.
- Experience with integration, system, qualification, SIL, HIL or similar testing environments.
- Familiarity with advanced testing techniques, such as automated testing, fault injection, fuzz testing, simulation, formal methods or static analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach and strong attention to detail.
- The ability to challenge assumptions, identify risks and work collaboratively across engineering teams.
Desirable experience includes:
- DO-178C and safety-critical software certification, particularly at higher assurance levels.
- DAL-A or DAL-B development programmes.
- Aerospace, defence, automotive, autonomous systems or advanced robotics.
- ISO 26262, IEC 61508 or other relevant safety standards.
- Verification of flight-control, mission-critical, UAV, UAS or autonomous aircraft systems.
- Aviation certification, airworthiness, SORA frameworks or engagement with certification authorities.
What You Will Get in Return:
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly specialised engineering team developing next-generation autonomous and safety-critical technologies.
Offering a salary of up to £60,000, the role provides exposure to cutting-edge areas including embedded safety-critical software, runtime assurance, formal methods and advanced verification techniques.
You will work alongside experienced engineers on technically challenging projects, with opportunities to expand your expertise through training and development in specialist technologies, including SPARK Ada and formal verification.
