H&I Development and Improvement Manager

We're looking for a Development Manager to join our Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) team a vital part of NHSBT that underpins life-saving transplants and transfusions every day. In this role, you'll work closely with the National Head of H&I, the H&I Operations and Strategy Manager, and Heads of Laboratories across the country to drive improvement, innovation, and excellence in service delivery for both patients and donors.
You'll play a leading role in developing and implementing major change programmes, coordinating key performance and service improvement projects, and shaping the future of H&I systems including the development of IT systems including Hematos. Your analytical skills will help transform data into insight, supporting evidence-based decisions and the creation of meaningful performance indicators.
This is a highly collaborative and dynamic role, where no two days are the same. You'll help define strategy, lead transformative projects, and ensure compliance with NHSBT policies and external standards all while making a real difference to the quality and reliability of the services we provide.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will be responsible for work with the National Head of H&I, the H&I Operations and Strategy Manager and the 6 Heads of Laboratories (HoLs) to continually develop and improve the delivery of service for patients and donors. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Support and contributing to the development of improved performance and service delivery for the H&I Function and provide input to the development of H&I strategy.
2. Leading and co-ordinating a range of projects addressing performance and service issues across H&I.
3. Managing the project involves implementing major change programmes within H&I.
4. Leading and producing requirements analysis and other related activities for developing H&I IT systems including Hematos and to lead the development and maintenance of the configuration requirements library for H&I IT systems including Hematos.
5. Helping carry out information mining and statistical analyses on data resulting from H&I service delivery and as a result of these analyses, help to develop performance indicators to improve the services provided
6. Ensuring compliance with NHSBT policies and external legislation
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice

- Evidence of Masters level qualification
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
Experience
- Experience of setting objectives for work groups and for direct reports and undertaking performance reviews
- Evidence of ability to work independently and develop own ideas

- Experience of managing resources, change projects and agreed budget
