Our client is a well-established Managed Service Provider delivering IT support, cloud solutions, and infrastructure projects to a broad range of SME and mid-market businesses across Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Senior IT Engineer to join their technical team. This is a varied and client-facing position, combining 2nd and 3rd line support responsibilities with project delivery, consultancy, and onsite customer engagement.
The Role
As a Senior IT Engineer, you will act as a senior technical escalation point while working closely with clients to understand their requirements and deliver effective technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 2nd and 3rd line support across a wide range of customer environments
- Investigating and resolving complex technical issues
- Delivering infrastructure, cloud, migration, and modernisation projects
- Conducting client discovery meetings and technical consultations
- Gathering business and technical requirements
- Recommending and implementing appropriate IT solutions
- Carrying out onsite installations, upgrades, and project work
- Supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Hyper-V, networking, and security technologies
- Managing and supporting backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Producing technical documentation and maintaining accurate records
- Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted technical advisor
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
- Strong 2nd and 3rd line support experience
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments
- Strong Hyper-V administration and troubleshooting experience
- Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication and disaster recovery solutions
- Strong networking knowledge, including firewalls, VPNs, switching, and wireless technologies
- Experience delivering IT infrastructure and cloud migration projects
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer-facing abilities
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as required
- Professional and consultative approach to customer engagement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced MSP environment
