A brand new client portal is being built from scratch on AWS, the first of its kind for the business, and the long term aim is to bring all of their systems together into one platform. The team is growing, with new engineers recently joined, and they need a lead who can take them on. Communication matters as much as technical skill here, and the hiring process reflects that: no technical test, just a conversation about how you think and lead. The Role and What It Can Do For Your Career This is a team lead role for a tech lead who has recently stepped into people management, or is ready to. You will run stand ups, guide a growing team of engineers and stay technically credible, while acting as the link between the team and the business. This is not a project management role. It is hands on technical leadership. The career value is a team to lead from day one. You will step into a high visibility programme at a pivotal moment, build your leadership experience with genuine accountability and establish yourself in a stable, regulated business that is investing in its engineering. For a tech lead in their first years of management, that is a rare combination. A note on working pattern: the first six months are on site in Craigavon five days a week. After that it moves to hybrid, with five office days per fortnight. Key responsibilities: Lead and develop a growing team of engineers, running day to day delivery and stand ups Stay technically credible, guiding design and code quality across the team's applications Coach newer engineers and support their growth Keep the team's applications running smoothly while the wider programme builds the new portal Communicate clearly with the business, turning technical work into plain language What you will need: A tech lead background with strong technical grounding, ideally in Java and Spring Recent experience stepping into people management, including running stand ups and leading an engineering team Clear communication, as you will talk through technical questions and whiteboard in interview Comfortable working on site in Craigavon five days a week for the first six months Why You Should Apply Now A defined team, a brand new high visibility programme and a stable employer do not often come together in one leadership role.
