Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
The Opportunity
An established engineering business specialising in industrial cooling and temperature-control solutions is looking to recruit a Process Cooling Application Engineer to join its Project Management team.
This is a technical application and solution-design role, providing pre-order engineering support to the Sales team and ensuring customer requirements are translated into accurate, practical and commercially viable cooling solutions.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, Sales, Purchasing and Project Management, you will assess application requirements, select suitable equipment, carry out technical calculations and develop specifications for a variety of industrial process cooling projects.
This is primarily an application engineering position rather than a design or CAD-focused role, although some drawing work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide technical and engineering support to the Sales team on industrial process cooling applications.
-
Review sales handovers to ensure customer requirements, technical specifications, operating conditions and project scope are clearly defined.
-
Identify missing information, technical risks and potential issues before projects progress.
-
Gather and assess application requirements, including cooling duties, temperatures, flow rates, process conditions, site constraints and utilities.
-
Carry out engineering calculations and use manufacturer selection software to assess cooling capacity, equipment performance and system suitability.
-
Recommend appropriate cooling equipment, system configurations and associated components.
-
Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to validate equipment selections, obtain technical information and assess alternative solutions.
-
Work directly with customers and internal teams to clarify technical requirements and explain proposed solutions.
-
Prepare technical specifications, equipment schedules, calculation records and project handover documentation.
-
Support Purchasing with technical reviews of supplier quotations, specifications and bills of materials.
-
Ensure approved technical solutions are accurately transferred into project delivery and installation planning.
-
Attend customer and supplier meetings, with occasional site visits where required.
-
Maintain accurate technical documentation and work in accordance with relevant engineering, quality and health and safety standards.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
-
Previous experience within industrial process cooling, refrigeration, chilled-water systems, temperature control or a related engineering environment.
-
A good understanding of industrial cooling applications and associated engineering principles.
-
The ability to interpret customer requirements and assess equipment suitability and system performance.
-
Experience using manufacturer product-selection software, sizing calculators and technical data sheets.
-
The ability to produce technical specifications and identify gaps or inconsistencies in engineering information.
-
Strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
-
A commercially aware approach, balancing technical performance, cost and practical project delivery.
-
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple technical enquiries and project requirements.

Competitive salary.
Monday to Friday working week, with an early finish at 2:30pm every Friday.
