Branch & Campus Patching Manager
Branch & Campus Patching Manager | £500-£585 per day (Inside IR35) | 6 months | January start | UK-based, with one on-site day a month in Yorkshire
We're looking for an experienced Branch & Campus Patching Manager to lead a large-scale network upgrade programme across a distributed estate of 10,000-20,000 devices. You'll plan, coordinate and oversee firmware and software upgrades across branch and campus environments, keeping the business running while changes land safely across hundreds of locations.
This is a hands-on delivery role so you must be comfortable with network changes at scale.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning and delivery of firmware and software upgrades across branch and campus networks (10,000-20,000 devices)
- Design and run staged, ring based rollouts to limit risk and blast radius
- Assess the impact of change across large numbers of locations before go-live
- Define local validation checks and remote recovery procedures for each rollout stage
- Coordinate on-site engineers who carry out the changes, including managing shift rotas and weekend cover
- Account for WAN dependencies, campus switching and wireless dependencies, and regional connectivity differences when planning
- Work with the mix of technologies in scope: mostly Cisco, plus F5 and Check Point
What they're looking for:
- Proven experience delivering patching or upgrade programmes at scale (10-20k devices or comparable)
- Strong knowledge of branch connectivity and WAN dependencies
- Understanding of campus switching and wireless-related dependencies
- Understanding of local resilience and survivability, such as how sites cope when the WAN is down
- Awareness of regional variations in connectivity and how they affect rollout planning
- Familiarity with Cisco (the majority of the estate), F5 and Check Point
