Data Product Lead – Scientific Information & Intelligence
Location: Hybrid in Slough
Function: Scientific Information, Data Strategy, AI Readiness
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Marketplace Product Lead to join our Scientific Information & Intelligence organization. This is a highly strategic role responsible for shaping and executing the vision for our enterprise data marketplace—ensuring seamless access to licensed external scientific information and enabling advanced digital and AI-driven workflows across R&D and business functions.
You will sit at the intersection of information science, data product management, and AI enablement , partnering closely with scientific teams, data engineering, AI/ML groups, and enterprise data governance to ensure our external data assets are discoverable, interoperable, high quality, and ready for next-generation analytics.
This role reports directly to the Head of Scientific Information and Intelligence .
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Product Leadership
- Define, refine, and execute the vision for our scientific data marketplace.
- Implement enterprise-wide data initiatives using principles such as data mesh, data-as-a-product, and data contracts .
- Lead the development, publication, and stewardship of reusable, high-quality information datasets for scientific and business use.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to the evolution of our scientific information ecosystem.
User-Centric Design & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with scientific, R&D, clinical, and business teams to understand information workflows, discovery needs, and external data use cases.
- Ensure that external information is seamlessly accessible, intuitive to search, and easily integrated into digital workflows.
- Act as the primary ambassador for the data marketplace—delivering training, gathering user feedback, and facilitating co-creation sessions.
Data Enablement & AI Readiness
- Ensure external data assets meet FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and are enriched for AI/ML applications.
- Collaborate with data engineering and AI teams to prepare datasets for use in intelligent systems, LLMs, and scientific platforms.
- Align with data governance on domains, metadata standards, ontologies, quality indicators, and onboarding processes.
Requirements
Background & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in information science, scientific data management, or knowledge management— pharma experience strongly preferred .
- Deep understanding of the data lifecycle, metadata, ontologies, search & discovery technologies , and master data management.
- Strong experience in information architecture , scientific search systems, knowledge engineering, and the underpinning data models required for discovery workflows.
Technical & AI Readiness
- Not a data scientist, but a tech-savvy information science expert comfortable working with technical teams.
- Familiarity with machine learning tools , agentic AI concepts, and large language models (LLMs) and their implications for scientific data platforms.
- Ability to assess and integrate innovative technologies into a scientific information environment.

- Experienced in agile methodologies with strong product mindset.
- Able to anticipate business and scientific needs and translate them into clear data and product requirements.
- Strong project management skills; capable of leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across scientific and business domains.
