An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Embedded Software Engineer to join an innovative technology business developing advanced encryption and secure communications solutions for highly sensitive government and defence applications.

Working within a specialist engineering team, you will play an important role in the design, development and testing of embedded software and firmware used within sophisticated hardware products.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware, solving complex technical challenges and developing reliable software for applications where performance, security and reliability are critical.

The Role

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, working closely with hardware and systems engineers to develop and integrate embedded software across a range of platforms.

Your responsibilities will include:

+Designing, developing and maintaining embedded software and firmware using C and C++.

+Developing low-level software for microcontrollers, processors and embedded hardware platforms.

+Working across bare-metal and real-time operating system (RTOS) environments.

+Developing and integrating hardware interfaces, peripheral drivers and communication protocols.

+Debugging and resolving software and hardware integration issues.

+Writing and executing unit tests, integration tests and software verification activities.

+Applying structured coding standards and software development best practices.

+Participating in technical design reviews, code reviews and collaborative engineering activities.

About You

We're looking for an Embedded Software Engineer with strong C programming fundamentals and a genuine interest in low-level software development and hardware integration.

You'll ideally have:

+A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

+Strong experience developing software using embedded C, with C++ also beneficial.

+Experience developing firmware for microcontrollers or embedded processor platforms.

+Knowledge of bare-metal programming and/or RTOS environments.

+Experience debugging, testing and integrating embedded software with hardware.

Security Requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the projects, candidates must meet the relevant nationality and security clearance requirements, including the ability to obtain and maintain the required level of UK security clearance.

If you're an Embedded Software Engineer looking for an opportunity to work on advanced technology where software quality, performance and security genuinely matter, we'd be keen to hear from you.
