The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Web Developer to join a collaborative digital team in Banbury.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has completed relevant studies, training or qualifications in Web Development or a related field and is now looking to develop their skills within a commercial environment.
Full training and support will be provided; however, applicants should already have a good foundation in web development, including an understanding of WordPress, HTML, CSS and basic programming principles. An interest in Artificial Intelligence and how AI tools can support web development and digital projects is also important.
Working alongside experienced developers, graphic designers and copywriters, you will gain hands-on experience building, maintaining and improving customer websites while developing your technical knowledge and confidence.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, maintenance and improvement of WordPress websites.
- Support the creation of professional, responsive and user-friendly websites from initial requirements through to completion.
- Work alongside experienced developers to understand customer requirements and translate them into effective website solutions.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, copywriters and other members of the digital team on website projects.
- Make updates and improvements to existing WordPress websites.
- Learn how to troubleshoot website issues and identify appropriate solutions.
- Develop practical knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and other relevant web technologies.
- Learn and apply best practices relating to website performance, responsiveness, security and usability.
- Develop an understanding of hosting, domains and general website management.
- Use and explore AI tools to support development, problem-solving, research and productivity.
- Keep up to date with developments in web technologies, WordPress and Artificial Intelligence.
- Take an active approach to learning and developing technical skills through training, mentoring and practical experience.
Education & Skills Required
- Relevant studies, qualification or training in Web Development or a related technical subject.
- A good basic understanding of WordPress and how websites are built and managed.
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS, with some understanding of JavaScript and/or PHP being advantageous.
- An interest in Artificial Intelligence, including awareness of AI tools and how they can be used within web development or digital environments.
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in web development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and confidence working with colleagues and, as experience develops, customers.
- Self-motivated, curious and willing to learn new software, technologies and development techniques.
