IT Infrastructure Engineer

IT Infrastructure Engineer

We're looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day IT operations and infrastructure support across a network of distribution sites and depots.

A key part of the role is that the successful candidate must also be able to step up in the absence of the IT Manager if they are away from the business.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong infrastructure professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment, keeping business-critical systems running securely and efficiently, and driving continuous improvement.

You'll provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support while helping maintain and enhance a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including networking, virtualisation, server infrastructure, storage and disaster recovery. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to wider IT projects, develop automation solutions and deputise for the IT Manager when required.

Key skills & experience

  • Extensive experience in 1st, 2nd and 3rd line IT support and incident resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop, server and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong Active Directory and identity and access management skills.
  • Experience administering VMware virtualisation and Citrix environments.
  • Strong Cisco networking knowledge across LAN, WAN, wireless, switching and routing.
  • Experience supporting SQL databases and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of NetApp storage, backup solutions and disaster recovery.
  • An understanding of cyber security, vulnerability management and IT compliance, including TISAX.
  • PowerShell Scripting and automation experience.
  • Knowledge of ITIL-based service management and change, incident and asset management processes.
  • Experience working in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing or another operational environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and customer service skills.
  • A proven track record of delivering infrastructure improvements, upgrades and migrations.
  • Relevant IT qualifications or equivalent commercial experience.

Microsoft, VMware (VCP), ITIL Foundation, NetApp or equivalent certifications would be advantageous.

Additional requirements

Flexibility to travel to other sites as required, participate in an IT on-call rota and provide occasional out-of-hours or weekend support is essential.

Due to the volume of applications received for positions, it will not be possible to respond to all applications and only applicants who are considered suitable for interview will be contacted.
