We're supporting a North Bristol organisation in the search for a hands-on Cyber Security Engineer to join their growing security function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cyber professional who enjoys combining security operations, engineering and vulnerability management activities within a predominantly Microsoft-based environment.

The Role

Working closely with infrastructure, networking and IT teams, you'll play a key role in protecting the organisation's technology estate across both on-premise and cloud environments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and investigating security alerts through Microsoft security platforms
  • Leading vulnerability management activities, identifying risks and supporting remediation
  • Monitoring and responding to EDR/XDR, email security and DLP alerts
  • Supporting Microsoft Sentinel and wider security tooling
  • Managing Conditional Access, identity and privileged access security controls
  • Working with infrastructure teams to improve security posture and reduce risk
  • Participating in security projects and change management processes
  • Supporting incident response activities when required
  • Maintaining security documentation, reporting and compliance activities

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 4 years' commercial Cyber Security experience
  • Experience across both Security Operations and Security Engineering environments
  • Strong Microsoft security experience, including Microsoft Sentinel
  • Experience with EDR/XDR technologies
  • Vulnerability management experience using tools such as Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7 or similar
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, IAM and PAM
  • Experience with email security and Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards such as ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST or PCI DSS

Desirable Experience

  • Next-generation firewall technologies
  • Threat hunting and incident response experience
  • Microsoft Defender security technologies

Location

Candidates should be within a reasonable commuting distance of North Bristol, ideally within one hour and no more than approximately 90 minutes travel, due to occasional onsite incident response requirements.
