Electrical Design Engineer
Electrical Design / Controls Engineer – Automation
Location: Leicester
Up to £55 000, depending on experience
Are you ready for an electrical design role with more responsibility and involvement in the finished product?
If you're already confident with EPLAN and machinery electrical design but want to contribute to more than just the drawing package, this opportunity could be a strong next move.
We're supporting an established automation specialist looking to add an Electrical Design Engineer to its multidisciplinary engineering team.
The business designs and manufactures bespoke automated machinery and robotic systems, giving its engineers exposure to a wide range of technical challenges.
What makes this role different?
You'll take responsibility for the electrical design and delivery of machine control systems, working throughout the engineering lifecycle.
You'll be involved in:
- Developing electrical control system solutions for new machinery.
- Producing EPLAN schematics, panel designs and electrical documentation.
- Selecting components and ensuring systems meet technical requirements.
- Supporting and guiding electrical technicians during machinery builds.
- Working on machine safety, electrical compliance and risk reduction.
- Assisting with system testing, fault-finding and commissioning.
- Helping develop and improve standardised control system designs.
What experience do you need?
We're looking for someone with:
- At least 2 years' relevant experience in automation or machinery control systems.
- Strong EPLAN experience.
- A solid understanding of electrical and machine safety systems.
- Experience producing electrical drawings and control panel designs.
- The confidence to work alongside different engineering teams and contribute to technical decisions.
Experience with PLC programming, industrial robotics or machine commissioning would be a bonus, but isn't a requirement.
Why apply?
You'll have technical responsibility, involvement in complete machinery projects and the chance to contribute to how electrical control systems are developed and delivered.
It's an opportunity to build on your existing skills within a growing, established engineering business working on varied automation projects.
