Electrical Design Engineer
About the Opportunity
An established UK engineering manufacturer is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer or Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development, and improvement of complex electrical capital equipment used across a variety of industrial applications.
The successful candidate will play a key role in product development, electrical design analysis, technical problem-solving, and supporting the introduction of new technologies and solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical designs for bespoke engineering projects.
- Carry out design calculations and analysis to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance.
- Support the development and enhancement of existing product ranges and new product introductions.
- Work closely with manufacturing, testing, and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
- Apply value engineering and design-for-manufacture principles throughout the design process.
- Provide technical support to sales teams during quotation and project phases.
- Assist with resolving technical issues on installed equipment and support customer investigations when required.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to engineering tools, design processes, and software systems.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to optimise product performance.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years' experience designing electrical capital equipment within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with thermal design principles.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and 2D CAD software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of projects.
Desirable
- Experience with programming or code modification using languages such as VB.NET or similar.
- Previous involvement in product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
