Engineering Lead - DV Clearance
A global information technology organisation with clients in the defence and security sector is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join the team in Basingstoke. This is a critical role within the customer’s Design Authority, where you will take ownership of engineering processes, governance, technology, and strategy. You will define and implement standards that enable the repeatable delivery of assured products and services across software, infrastructure, and service management components.
This is an initial 6-month contract based onsite in Basingstoke due to the nature of the work with the end client and successful candidate will need to already have active DV Clearance. The daily rate for the role is £600 per day via an Umbrella company (inside IR35).
Key Responsibilities
- Act as part of the customer’s Design Authority, driving engineering process, governance, and technology strategy.
- Define engineering processes, standards, and guidance for end-to-end lifecycle delivery.
- Enable engineering governance across multiple suppliers, ensuring consistent quality artefacts.
- Define requirements and architecture for engineering and automation tooling; support delivery teams in implementation.
- Deliver a clear vision and strategy for engineering aligned with the customer’s medium- and long-term goals.
- Ensure engineering adds measurable value to the customer’s business and strategic objectives.
- Represent Fujitsu in Design Authority meetings, supporting customer strategy and positioning.
- Lead and manage the Engineering Community of Practice, fostering collaboration and excellence.
- Drive automation capability growth within Fujitsu, leveraging programme lessons learned.
- Ensure engineering delivery meets cost and time commitments.
- Support programme teams in adopting engineering processes and tooling effectively.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in defining and implementing engineering processes and governance.
- Strong background in technology strategy and lifecycle management across software, infrastructure, and service management.
- Expertise in engineering tooling architecture and automation.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage communities of practice.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in Design Authority environments.
- Track record of delivering engineering functions that align with business strategy and cost/time objectives.
