Director of Engineering – Third-Party CyberSecurity Intelligence Platform

As they continue to scale their platform, we are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a world-class technical team , shape the architectural vision , and drive execution across multiple product streams — including large-scale data pipelines and real-time risk intelligence systems .
Role Overview:
As the Director of Engineering , you will own technical strategy, execution, and people development for Cyb3r Operations’ engineering organisation.
You will work closely with the CTO, Product, and AI/Data Science leads to translate our business and product vision into a robust, scalable, and secure technology platform.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who has grown from senior engineering roles into strategic leadership and thrives in a fast-paced, cybersecurity-focused SaaS environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap , ensuring scalability, performance, and security of our third-party intelligence platform.
- Drive architectural decisions around data ingestion, graph-based intelligence, real-time risk scoring, and AI/ML integrations .
- Champion best practices in software engineering, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), DevSecOps, and CI/CD .
- Oversee the development of APIs, integrations, and data exchange mechanisms with enterprise systems and external intelligence feeds.
- Partner with the CTO to evolve the technical stack and architecture for long-term flexibility and resilience.
Team & Culture:
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team (backend, frontend, DevOps, data, QA).
- Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, and collaboration , ensuring engineers are aligned with product outcomes.
- Establish strong technical hiring standards, design interview frameworks, and attract top engineering talent globally.
- Support career growth and professional development for engineers through mentorship, training, and clear performance frameworks.
Execution & Delivery:
- Translate business and product goals into clear engineering OKRs, milestones, and sprint objectives.
- Ensure timely delivery of features, technical debt management, and continuous improvement of development velocity.
- Implement effective engineering processes, agile practices, sprint planning, retrospectives, and release cycles.
- Collaborate with Product Management to balance feature delivery with technical health, security, and infrastructure priorities.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee outsourcing or partner engagements when needed.
Security, Compliance & Reliability:
- Lead the adoption of secure coding standards , vulnerability management, and security-by-design practices.
- Ensure compliance with relevant frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
- Drive observability, monitoring, and incident response strategies to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Work closely with InfoSec and Data teams to embed security at every stage of development.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3–5 years in engineering leadership (Head of Engineering, Director, or VP role).
- Proven experience building and scaling SaaS platforms — ideally in cybersecurity, risk intelligence, or enterprise analytics .
- Deep expertise in modern cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and distributed systems.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across backend, frontend, DevOps, and data.
- Strong background in data pipelines, APIs, and real-time data processing (Kafka, Spark, GraphDBs, etc.).
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration , large-scale data architecture, and analytics platforms is a strong plus.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work with executive leadership and external partners.
- Proven ability to deliver high-impact features in a start-up or growth-stage environment.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (PhD a plus).
Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Experience in cyber threat intelligence, risk scoring, or third-party risk domains .
- Background in graph technologies (Neo4j, TigerGraph, ArangoDB) and entity resolution.
- Understanding of security standards, GRC frameworks, and compliance automation .
- Previous experience scaling teams from 5 → 50 engineers.
- Comfortable working with distributed teams and agile processes.
