Salary: Up to £65,000

Location: London (hybrid)

Client: My client, a fast-growing strategic communications consultancy focussed on Technology and Investment sectors.

My client is looking for a confident, commercially minded Account Director to join its senior consulting team. This role is ideal for someone already operating at AD level, though an exceptional Senior Account Manager ready for a step up will also be considered, provided you can clearly demonstrate the required strength in media relations, strategic thinking, and client leadership.

A critical part of the role is the ability to shape and secure high-value media opportunities, particularly across the business, technology, financial, and investment press. You must hold strong journalist relationships that translate into meaningful results for clients.

You will also play a significant part in new business generation, from spotting opportunities through your network to attending relevant events leading conversations and shaping persuasive proposals.

What You'll Be Doing:

Strategic Client Leadership

  • Serve as a senior advisor to clients, helping guide positioning, narrative development, and long-term communications strategy.
  • Anticipate emerging issues or risks and help clients make informed decisions.
  • Ensure programmes stay aligned to clients' broader commercial and reputational goals.

Media Strategy & Press Relationships

  • Leverage your established network across business, technology, and investment journalism to unlock stories, commentary opportunities, and profile-building coverage.
  • Develop original story angles, news hooks, and thought-leadership ideas that cut through a competitive media landscape.
  • Support and coach teams on how to cultivate their own media contacts and deliver high-quality outreach.

New Business & Growth

  • Use your industry knowledge and connections to identify potential leads for the consultancy.
  • Lead elements of the pitch process, from early discovery conversations to presentation and proposal ownership.
  • Look for opportunities to expand existing accounts through new initiatives and strategic recommendations.

Team Development & Oversight

  • Mentor junior and mid-level colleagues, helping them refine their judgement, communication skills, and media instincts.
  • Provide constructive editorial guidance, ensuring content is clear, persuasive, and tailored to clients' objectives.
  • Role-model best practice and contribute to the firm's wider training and development initiatives.

Content & Editorial Excellence

  • Produce and refine high-quality written materials such as opinion pieces, commentary, messaging frameworks, briefing materials, and client communications.
  • Ensure all work meets the highest editorial standards before it reaches the client.

Key requirements:

  • Experience operating at Account Director level, or a Senior Account Manager with clear evidence of readiness to step up.
  • A track record of delivering results through strong journalist relationships in business, tech and investment media.
  • Confidence shaping strategy and advising senior stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to business development and a commercial mindset.
  • A collaborative leader who enjoys coaching others and elevating the work of a team.
  • Someone who is energised by the worlds of innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, and investment.

Why This Role?

  • Salary: Up to £65K
  • 2 Days in the office, 3 days work from home.
  • Work with a consultancy that operates at the heart of the UK's innovation and investment ecosystem.
  • Gain real influence over strategic decision-making, both for clients and internally.
  • Join a supportive team that values creativity, rigour, curiosity, and ambition.
