Pensions Data Migration Technical Lead (Contract)
Robert Half is recruiting for a Pensions Data Migration Technical Lead to support a financial services organisation on a data migration programme.
This is an opportunity for an experienced pensions data migration professional to provide technical direction across the migration of data from legacy systems into a new environment.
Working alongside data specialists, business stakeholders and third-party providers, you will help ensure the migration is controlled, accurately documented and aligned with business requirements. Dedicated project management support is in place.
Assignment Details
- Pay rate: £600-£650 per day via an FCSA-accredited umbrella company
- Duration: Initial six-month contract
- Location: Remote, with occasional visits to client site. Travel expenses covered
- Start: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight across pensions data migration activities
- Assess legacy source data and translate business requirements into migration specifications
- Oversee source-to-target mapping, transformation requirements and supporting documentation
- Establish version control and traceability across datasets, mapping documents and migration iterations
- Work with data specialists to oversee data preparation, cleansing and quality checks
- Support validation, reconciliation and the resolution of data exceptions
- Coordinate with stakeholders and third-party providers to resolve migration issues and dependencies
- Communicate technical requirements, risks and decisions clearly
- Maintain migration documentation and support readiness reviews and sign-off activities
Required Experience
- Proven experience delivering data migrations within pensions
- Understanding of pension scheme, employer and member data
- Experience with legacy systems, data mapping and transformation requirements
- Strong knowledge of migration controls, version control and data traceability
- Experience supporting data quality, validation and reconciliation
- Ability to provide technical direction while working collaboratively with delivery teams
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to translate complex data requirements into practical delivery actions
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with Alteryx or similar data preparation and transformation tools
- Experience working with pension administration or investment platforms
- Experience coordinating migrations involving multiple data sources and third parties
- Background within regulated financial services environments
What's Needed
We're looking for a practical migration professional who understands pensions data and can oversee the technical detail while keeping stakeholders aligned. You'll be comfortable assessing legacy datasets, reviewing mapping decisions, establishing migration controls and helping the team resolve delivery challenges.
Pensions migration experience is the priority. Awareness of Alteryx would be beneficial, with hands-on data preparation and development supported by existing specialists.
