The Opportunity

A national law firm is seeking an Associate to join its growing Technology & Commercial Contracts team. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to broaden their experience across a wide variety of commercial and IT-related agreements while working with clients in both the private and public sectors.

You will be involved in drafting and negotiating a mixture of commercial supply agreements, IT procurement and outsourcing contracts, cloud and SaaS arrangements, and other technology-focused projects. The work spans several industries—including manufacturing, retail, transport, real estate, financial services, and energy—providing genuine variety and exposure to both routine contracts and more complex, strategic matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial, IT and outsourcing agreements.
  • Managing instructions, liaising with clients and counterparties, and ensuring clear communication throughout each matter.
  • Handling a mix of smaller contract reviews and larger, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Working independently on matters with appropriate supervision, or contributing as part of a team on more complex projects.
  • Supporting junior team members where required.
  • Playing an active role in business development—building client relationships, contributing to pitches, preparing articles or insights, and attending sector and networking events.
  • Managing files effectively, including time recording, cost estimates and billing.
  • Opportunities to work alongside data protection specialists on related advisory matters.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with 1+ years’ PQE, with experience in commercial contracts, technology agreements or related areas.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills with a commercial, pragmatic approach.
  • Confident working with clients, able to assess risk and provide clear, concise advice.
  • A strong team player with a positive attitude and willingness to contribute to the wider practice.
  • Proactive, organised and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Interested in developing long-term client relationships and playing a part in business development initiatives.
  • Technically capable with a genuine enthusiasm for commercial and technology work.
