Commercial Principal Associate

The Opportunity

A well-regarded national law firm is looking to appoint a Principal Associate to its Technology & Commercial Contracts team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced lawyer to work on a wide range of technology, digital and commercial projects for clients operating across multiple industries.

You’ll advise on complex IT arrangements—including SaaS, software development, licensing, outsourcing, cloud services, data solutions and digital transformation projects—as well as provide support on emerging regulatory issues in the tech sector. The team has a strong client base and regularly works on strategic, business-critical contracts with both established organisations and fast-growing technology companies.

You’ll join a collaborative team that values technical strength, clear communication, and a practical, commercial approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of technology and commercial contracts.
  • Advising on IT procurement, implementation and regulatory considerations.
  • Leading on larger matters while managing a caseload of routine commercial agreements.
  • Working directly with clients to understand requirements, identify risks and deliver strategic advice.
  • Supporting junior members of the team and contributing to internal knowledge sharing.
  • Participating in business development initiatives, client training and sector-focused projects.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor with 6+ years’ PQE, with solid experience in IT and technology-related commercial work.
  • Strong drafting skills and a confident approach to negotiation.
  • Able to balance legal, technical and commercial considerations effectively.
  • Clear communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused mindset.
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Motivated, positive and keen to continue developing expertise in the technology sector.
