About the Role:
Simply Education are currently working in partnership with an Ofsted rated good secondary school in the Coventry area. They are looking for a creative and flexible Computer Science teacher to lead their exciting Computer Science department.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

  • Align staff with the school's vision and ethos of 'striving for success focusing on learning', promoting high expectations and achievement across the school community.
  • Lead and manage the development of syllabi, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, and teaching strategies within the Learning Area.
  • Promote and uphold the values and ethos of Ash Green School.
  • Lead and implement the Learning Area Raising Achievement Plan.
  • Provide exemplary leadership to support students' behavioural, emotional, and social needs, while offering pedagogical guidance to staff.
  • Oversee training and development to ensure curriculum quality and effective implementation, enabling students to know more, remember more, and do more over time.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to meet school targets for behaviour, attendance, and academic progress.
  • Take ownership of behaviour, attendance, and anti-bullying policies to reinforce the school's ethos.
  • Deliver high-quality staff training that empowers leadership and drives continuous
  • Lead on management systems, monitor and evaluate data, and analyse emerging trends.
  • Effectively manage staff performance.

Teaching

  • Deliver a designated teaching programme in your subject specialism.
  • Teach students according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
  • Assess, record, and report on student attendance, progress, development, and attainment in Computer Science.
  • Contribute to oral and written assessments, reports, and references for individual students and groups.
  • Ensure a high-quality learning experience that meets internal and external standards.
  • Support the development of syllabi, resources, schemes of work, marking policies, and teaching strategies.
  • Use varied teaching methods to stimulate learning and meet the demands of the Computer Science curriculum.
  • Maintain discipline in line with school procedures, encouraging punctuality, good behaviour, and high standards of work and homework.

School Ethos and Community

  • Engage with parents and students to promote understanding of the school's aims, policies, procedures, and future direction.
  • Foster a respectful school culture through strategies developed with external consultants, and monitor their impact on student outcomes.
  • Supporting the Work of Creative Education Trust
  • Build strong, positive relationships with Creative Education Trust colleagues and participate in trust-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to share best practices, contribute to Trust strategies and policies, and promote the school within a national context.

Key Skills & Qualities:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to meet a wide range of student needs.
  • Effective behaviour and classroom management techniques.
  • Empathy and patience, especially when working with students requiring additional support.

Essential Requirements:

  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Computer Science or ICT in line with the national curriculum.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Experience with SEN students.
  • Commitment to inclusive education.
