An established, forward-thinking IT solutions provider is looking for a Category Buyer to take ownership of a key product category and help drive its commercial performance across a digital procurement platform. This hybrid role blends traditional buying responsibilities with a digital-first approach-ideal for someone with a commercial mindset and experience in IT procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a defined IT product category, focusing on digital sales performance.
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product Data and Digital teams to maximise visibility and adoption.
  • Support vendor onboarding and promote category content through digital campaigns and internal initiatives.
  • Build and manage relationships with vendors and distributors.
  • Negotiate pricing, rebate terms, and exclusive promotions aligned to digital sales goals.
  • Ensure supplier engagement with platform technology and commercial objectives.
  • Ensure product listings are accurate, competitive, and optimised for search and conversion.
  • Benchmark pricing and review stock availability regularly with support from internal data teams.
  • Act as the go-to expert for your category, providing training, pricing support, and insight to sales teams.
  • Configure customer-specific catalogues and support project-based sales opportunities.
  • Analyse sales data and customer trends to uncover growth opportunities.
  • Keep informed on vendor updates, competitor activity, and emerging tech trends.
  • Attend industry events and vendor sessions to deepen category knowledge and promote digital capability.

About You

  • We're looking for someone who:
  • Has 3+ years' experience in IT procurement or category buying
  • Understands the IT market and vendor channel structure
  • Can negotiate commercial terms and build strong supplier relationships
  • Is data-driven, commercially aware, and confident in cross-team collaboration
  • Has experience managing a specific product set within a tech-focused business
