Infrastructure Security Engineer - SPACE Technology

Security Infrastructure Engineer

Space Technology | 3rd Line Infrastructure | Cyber Security

Standard 8 is recruiting a Security Infrastructure Engineer for an established space technology organisation involved in building spacecraft and delivering complex space engineering projects.

This is a great opportunity to work in an environment where the technology is interesting, supporting the infrastructure and systems behind space missions.

It's a hands-on role covering infrastructure, cloud, networking and security. You'll be responsible for keeping systems secure, fixing technical issues and improving the infrastructure that supports the wider engineering teams.

The Role

  • Providing 3rd line infrastructure and security support
  • Securing and maintaining cloud and on-premise infrastructure
  • System hardening, patching and vulnerability remediation
  • Managing user access, permissions and identity security
  • Monitoring systems, investigating security incidents and resolving issues
  • Supporting network security, firewalls and VPNs
  • Working on infrastructure upgrades and new technology projects
  • Helping ensure security is built into new systems from the start

Your Background

Around 3 to 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, security engineering or DevSecOps, with a good understanding of how to secure and manage complex IT environments.

Ideally, you'll have experience with some of the following:

  • AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Linux administration and hardening
  • IAM, SSO, MFA, RBAC and privileged access
  • SIEM, EDR and vulnerability management
  • TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs and proxies
  • Terraform, Ansible, Python or Bash
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • NIST, CIS Benchmarks or ISO 27001
  • Security incident investigation and remediation

You don't need to tick every box. A strong infrastructure background, hands-on security experience and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems are the main things we're looking for.

CISSP, CCSP or Security+ would be useful.

This is a chance to work on technology that supports real spacecraft builds and space programmes, rather than the usual corporate IT environment. So strap on your seatbelt while the engines warm up and hit apply!
