Role Purpose

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for UI, API, and integration testing.
  • Build and enhance automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress).
  • Develop reusable automation components and utilities.
  • Analyse user stories and acceptance criteria to determine automation scope.
  • Identify and prioritise scenarios suitable for automation.
  • Execute automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies to advocate for quality and testability.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for defects and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
  • Validate application reliability, performance, and compatibility across environments.
  • Integrate test automation into CI/CD systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • Monitor pipeline execution and address failures or flaky tests.
  • Document automation frameworks, approaches, and test cases.
  • Produce clear, concise defect reports with supporting evidence.
  • Communicate test progress, coverage, and quality metrics to stakeholders.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
  • Experience with API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, Karate).
  • Familiarity with BDD/TDD practices and tools like Cucumber or SpecFlow.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Knowledge of Git and branching strategies.
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP) and containerised systems (Docker/Kubernetes) is desirable.
  • Good understanding of Atlassian Datacentre tooling
  • Strong analytical and problem‐solving ability.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 2–5+ years in automation testing roles.
  • ISTQB certification is advantageous.
