Senior Data Architect (SAS Legacy & Viya)

We are recruiting for a Senior Data Architect to join a major public sector transformation programme delivered by a leading global consultancy.

This role is a key technical leadership position within a complex enterprise data environment spanning both Legacy analytics platforms and modern cloud-enabled data services. You will act as the architectural authority for SAS-based solutions and provide governance, design assurance, and strategic direction across multiple teams and suppliers.

This is not a hands-on development role. We are looking for a senior architectural specialist with deep SAS expertise, strong integration experience, and the ability to guide modernisation across Legacy and cloud environments.

Key Requirements:

• Strong experience as a SAS Architect or Senior SAS Technical Lead in large-scale enterprise environments
• Deep hands-on experience with SAS 9.x, Base SAS and SAS Grid environments
• Proven experience designing and integrating SAS solutions with enterprise data warehouses
• Strong understanding of data architecture principles, governance, and design assurance
• Experience defining integration patterns between analytics platforms and enterprise data systems
• Ability to act as a technical authority for architectural decisions, risks, and trade-offs
• Experience working with data engineering, platform and infrastructure teams in complex delivery environments
• Strong understanding of performance, scalability, security and data quality considerations
• Experience supporting or influencing architecture across multiple teams or suppliers
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear outcomes

Highly Desirable:

• Experience with SAS Viya (cloud or containerised environments)
• Exposure to modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Experience supporting Legacy SAS to Viya migration or modernisation programmes
• Understanding of data lake or lakehouse architectures
• Experience working in multi-supplier or federated delivery environments
• Experience operating within regulated or public sector enterprise programmes
