Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Java Developer to join a major Government programme delivering secure, cloud-native digital services. The successful candidate will have extensive experience building scalable Java applications within AWS environments and will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing microservices-based solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial Java development experience
• Experience delivering solutions within AWS cloud environments
• Proven experience building and supporting microservices architectures
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and integration services
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams
• Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
• Previous experience delivering projects within Government or Public Sector organisations

Knowledge of AWS services such as:

• ECS/EKS
• Lambda
• API Gateway
• S3
• RDS
• CloudWatch
• IAM
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Exposure to automated testing frameworks such as Selenium or Cucumber, working alongside QA teams.
• Experience of GDS-aligned delivery programmes
• AWS certifications
