Python & FIX Connectivity Trading Support Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Python & FIX Connectivity Trading Application Production Support Specialist to join a high-performing team supporting global derivatives trading platforms. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in Front Office trading application support, FIX connectivity, and capital markets environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide production support for business-critical Front Office trading applications.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across the trading environment.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to improve platform stability.
• Respond rapidly to incidents to maintain uninterrupted trading operations.
• Proactively monitor systems and drive reliability and resilience improvements.
• Manage and support critical end-to-end trading workflows.
• Collaborate closely with trading, engineering, infrastructure, and product teams.
• Act as a subject matter expert for trading systems initiatives.
• Participate in an on-call rota, including occasional US hours support.

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience supporting Front Office trading applications in production environments.
• Minimum 1 year's experience supporting FIX connectivity to exchanges or client-side FIX flows.
• Strong understanding of the trading life cycle, including:
  • Order capture and execution
  • Allocations
  • Settlement processes
  • Compliance requirements
• Experience working within Commodity Trading, Capital Markets, or Trading & Supply environments.
• Familiarity with algorithmic trading workflows and technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Technical Skills

• Strong Scripting and automation capabilities using:
  • Python
  • Shell Scripting
  • Similar programming languages
• Experience with FIX protocol and FIX Engineering.
• Strong understanding of application deployment and production support best practices.
• Experience with exchange and vendor certification processes.
• Knowledge of EMS/OMS platforms and third-party trading networks, including:
  • TT (Trading Technologies)
  • NYFIX
  • Bloomberg
  • TradingScreen
• Experience supporting messaging systems and investigating networking issues including:
  • TCP
  • Multicast
• Experience supporting market data distribution platforms and Real Time data environments.
• Knowledge of multicast traffic management, arbitration, and message queuing.
• Experience with time-series databases and frameworks such as:
  • kdb+
  • Shakti
• Understanding of Real Time market data feed handlers and enterprise market data platforms.
• Knowledge of algorithmic trading governance, audit, compliance, and RTS6 regulations is highly desirable.
