Marketing and Growth Lead

Marketing & Growth Lead

£70,000–£80,000 | Home-based, UK | Full-time

Ever looked at a product and thought, “I know how I’d get people excited about that”? Here’s your opportunity to put that thinking into action.

We’re partnering with an ambitious pet technology business developing a smarter way for cat owners to understand their cats’ everyday behaviour.

With fresh investment, an evolving product and an experienced team across technology, product and customer experience, the business is preparing for its next commercial chapter. Now it needs a marketer who can turn customer insight into a compelling proposition, build the plan and make it happen.

You’ll own the marketing direction, with the freedom to challenge assumptions, test ideas and show where investment delivers results. The US is the priority market, giving you the opportunity to shape how the product reaches and connects with a significant consumer audience.

The opportunity

This is a role for someone who enjoys both deciding what to do and doing it.

You might already lead marketing in a small business. You could be a brilliant Growth Marketing Manager or Senior Digital Marketer ready for broader ownership. Perhaps you’re working within a larger team and want the freedom to put your own ideas into practice.

Your current title matters less than your ability to explain: “Here’s the challenge, here’s what I personally did, and here’s what happened.”

You’ll join a small, collaborative team where your work will influence how the product is positioned, how customers experience it and where the business goes next.

What you’ll get stuck into

  • Find the strongest opportunity. Build on existing research to understand priority customer groups, buying motivations and the competitive landscape.
  • Make the proposition compelling. Translate a connected technology product into clear, credible messaging that helps cat owners understand its value.
  • Turn ideas into customers. Personally run and improve paid campaigns, creative tests, ecommerce journeys and landing pages.
  • Follow the evidence. Establish useful reporting, understand acquisition costs and conversion, and recommend where to invest, improve or stop.
  • Bring customer stories to life. Work with Customer Experience on genuine insights, user-generated content and communications that encourage product adoption and ongoing engagement.
  • Shape the relaunch. Develop campaign priorities and channel plans around product readiness and what testing reveals.
  • Put AI to practical use. Identify workflows that improve marketing delivery, analysis and productivity, working with the CTO on technical implementation.

You’ll have colleagues to challenge ideas with and specialist expertise to draw on. You’ll also be the person taking ownership of marketing delivery, with no direct reports initially.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have recent, hands-on experience in consumer marketing, ideally within DTC ecommerce, consumer technology, connected devices, subscriptions or a similarly relevant business.

We’re particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:

  • Commercial judgement across positioning, customer acquisition and conversion.
  • Personal delivery across paid social, ecommerce, analytics, creative testing and customer lifecycle activity.
  • Experience improving a B2C website, ideally Shopify.
  • Confidence working with budgets, interpreting results and making decisions.
  • Practical experience using AI in your work, plus curiosity about what it could help you do next.
  • The initiative to work independently, ask good questions and adapt when an experiment doesn’t deliver.

You don’t need to code or build integrations. The technical team will lead that work. You do need to understand what marketing needs from those systems and whether the outputs are useful.

Pet industry experience and exposure to the US market would be valuable. Above all, you’ll bring relevant skills and a real interest in the product and its customers. If you share your home with a cat, you’ll probably have plenty of ideas already.

The practical details

  • £70,000–£80,000 basic salary.
  • 24 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with some allowance reserved for the Christmas closure.
  • Workplace pension.
  • Home-based in the UK, with in-person collaboration in Winchester or London, anticipated approximately fortnightly during the initial period.
  • 40 hours per week, with flexible working, core availability around 10am–3pm and flexibility to connect with US contacts when needed.
